Welcome to Over The Fence an online local community to find, list and recommend the best plumbers, electricians, builders and other tradesmen in your area.
Our site has been created to provide you with the names of tried and true businesses in your area such as plumbers, builders, electricians and other tradesmen. These organisations, products and services are recommendations from members of our Over The Fence community; people like you! The only way a listing of these businesses can get on our site is if one of our members have used the product, service or organisation and has made the recommendation or by invitation by Pete or Trudy.You call the shots
This site is really driven by you, the member. By becoming a member you will be able to submit business recommendations and get access to reviews of services you may be looking for.

Business has to be referred
Businesses are not able to list themselves on this site, they can only be listed through member recommendations. We rely entirely on our members, to add new categories of businesses, rate existing businesses (good or bad) and contribute to our forums (maybe answer a problem someone else has), offer up handy hints and so on.
We take your word
No one can submit a listing or rating anonymously. You will be expected to use your online "user" name; however, your information is kept confidential. It is important to realise that members’ reviews are made available to the businesses concerned because we want to be fair: and we all know that there are often two sides to every story. This way we hope that members will make balanced judgement calls. We also want to give every business the chance to put right any problems with a product or service that they have provided.
Playing fair
In the spirit of fair play we ask that members only review any one company once every 6 months. That way reviews about that company can't be weighted either for or against them.
We will keep an eye on things
We periodically check reviews and each listing is checked by us before it goes live. We do this because it is not unknown for some companies to review their own businesses! Yes, it does happen! Should we find instances of this, the companies and their reviews will be removed from the site.
Submitting reviews and ratings is very straightforward.
